Marge Parker Edwards

Margaret Parker Edwards was born in Whitley Co. Kentucky and graduated from Woodbine High School.  She attended Berea College, graduating in 1957.  She obtained her Masters from Wright State.  Marge secured a teaching job at Goshen Local Schools when Sam Alley made a recruiting visit to Berea College.  She moved to Goshen in the fall of 1957 and began her teaching career.

Marge retired after 42 years in the Goshen School district.  The majority of those years were spent teaching 1st grade.  She held numerous positions as a mentor, chairperson and committee member.  She was the Ohio Reads coordinator for 8 years.  She still volunteers as a tutor for the Project More program.  Marge has volunteered countless hours helping teachers in the classroom, grading papers, decorating bulletin boards and performing many of the numerous duties of a classroom teacher.  Her dedication to education and children is surpassed by very few people.

Outside the classroom she has embraced the community in many ways.  She is an active member of the Goshen United Methodist Church, serving as VBS teacher, Sunday School teacher, and serving on various committees to name a few.  She is a member of the Goshen Historical Society.  On the professional level she belongs to Delta Kappa Gamma, an organization that promotes education and is an active member of the Clermont County Retired Teachers Association, that also endeavors to promote education.

She was married to Donald Edwards in 1959.  Her three children all attended Goshen Local Schools.  Her son Darrell is currently the Superintendant of the Goshen Local School District, after serving the district in numerous capacities.  Her daughter, Lisa, is a teacher in the Goshen Middle School, and her son, Allen, is a Clermont County Assistant Prosecutor.  Her two daughters-in-laws are teachers in the district.  Her six grandchildren all attended school in Goshen.

Still residing in Goshen, Marge continues to be strong contributor to our schools and community.
