Congratulations James Koch
Class of 1973
James Koch of the
Class of 1973 has authored and
self-published a book titled:
"102 Odd Thoughts
to Keep Ordinary Away:
Observations and Realizations
That Morph the Mundane and Probe
the Profound"
Jim thinks that the world is
more interesting when you look
at both ordinary and profound
things in new ways. Such as What
will archaeologists think of us
far into the future? Where is
heaven? What can I learn from
children and from cats? What's
up with the syllable "mor"?
Whether playing with words,
relating "aha!" moments, or
posing metaphors, the author
shares his odd thoughts with the
intention to entertain and to
inspire you to see beyond the
ordinary.
The book is 6 x 9 inches, about
80 pages, and is available
online at amazon.com for $6 plus
shipping (unless you qualify for

The alumni starts to send out
our newsletter on the tenth
anniversary
of a class's graduation .
We've discovered few students
have the desire for a reunion
until their tenth year.
The alumni also starts checking
our records to find a
current address since most of
the students have moved or
gotten married in the decade
since they graduated. If
you know anyone on the list and
have their current
address, we would appreciate
hearing from you. Email

Goshen Grads Give Back Homeless
Project
December 11, 2015
The above blankets and throws
were donated with gloves and
hats to the Goshen Grads Give
Back Project on December
11,2015,
by the Goshen High School Alumni
Association. The project was
created last December when a
Goshen Grad encountered a class
mate in downtown Cincinnati, and
discovered he was homeless.
Keri Manz, a Goshen Graduate
and current Goshen High School
Guidance Counselor wanted to
help him and other homeless
individuals. Steve
Proctor, another Grad, had
experience in organizing a
sack lunch project. Goshen grads
and community members came
together and the project was a
heart warming success and a plan
for this year project was
created. Friday night, a
group of grads and community
members gathered to make 150
sack lunches and sorted and
organized the donated socks,
gloves, hat and
blankets so a group could
delivered them to the homeless
on Saturday morning. This group
was lead by Margie Hadley and
again was a great success.
The alumni
were happy to be apart of Goshen
Grads Giving Back Project.
We hope you can help too next
year .
Class of 1980
There is a
period of time in the late 70's
and early 80's that the school
didn't create class compositions
and there has been a large
demand for them. The alumni
association have
been trying to recreate them
using the school annuals so we
can display them in the high
school lobby with the other
class photos. We plan to
reproduce them as fast as money
and time allows us. Fugett's Photography has just
finished the class of 1980.
It is shown here, on the Class
of 1980 page and on the Goshen
High School Alumni Association
Facebook page. If you know
someone from 1980, please let
them know about the photo.

Marianne Bailey-Hansford passed
away on June18, 2015.
Marianne was a Goshen High
School Class of 1960 graduate.
She was married to Ernie
Hansford who was also a 1960
Goshen High School graduate.
Marianne was a teacher for 45
years at Goshen Local Schools.
She taught most of those years
as a 6th grade teacher but was
also a teacher and school summer
administrator. Marianne
will be missed by her many
friends,
It was with a sad
heart that we discovered during
the alumni banquet
that Dan Heisler
had passed away last fall. He
was the oldest Goshen High
School
Graduate. Dan was also a member
of our Goshen High School
Alumni Hall of
Fame. You can click on the
link above to read his
biography.
He will be
greatly missed by all his
friends and family. He was
a great
educator
and one of Goshen's true icons.
2015 Hall of Fame
On May 9, 2015. The Goshen High
School Alumni Association put up
13 more plaques in the high
school lobby.
They were plaques for previously
inducted Hall of Fame members,
George Rise, Scott Mohler, Sue
Holt, Marge Edwards, Jack
Bailey, Betty Hannan,
William Holden, Christine
Ranson Shinkle, Roger Sullivan,
the 1958 State Champion Baseball
Team and this year's Hall of
Fame
inductees, Nancy Stewart
McCollum, Sharon and Dean Hart
and George E. Roudebush. It's
worth a trip to the high school
to see such worthy members
of our community honored
by us and the school.
Warrior Monument
The Goshen
Warrior Monument was dedicated
this year to commemorate Goshen
Local Schools, especial in
memory of the original
1909 building
which had to be removed due last
year due to safety reasons.
An Ohio Historical Marker was
also installed with
a description of
the school's history. The
monument is located in front of
the school, near the gym.
Sackrifice:
Heart 4 Hunger- Goshen High
Schools Graduates
Early December, Steve Proctor,
class of 2002 ,
encountered a homeless class
mate on Fountain Square. After
talking with some other Goshen
Grads,
he created a
feed the homeless project called Sackrifice:
Heart4Hunger-Goshen High School
Graduates. The goal was to get
500 Lunch bags
filled with sandwiches,
fruit, snacks and drink.
After little publicity, Goshen
grads and community members
donated enough to fill the bags
within days.
On Friday, December 19, 2014,
volunteers met at the high
school and filled the bags
within two hours. On
Saturday, volunteers, drove vans
to
Fountain Square and distributed
them to the grateful homeless
individuals, including our own
Goshen Grad. Kerri Manz,
Goshen grad and high school
counselor started a
separate project for socks to
add to the project, so warm
socks and other warm clothing
items were added to the lunch
bag project.
These are just some small
incidents of the generous
activities of the
wonderful people who have
graduated and live in the
Goshen Community.
If you would like to see more
photos of the volunteers, you
can go to our face book page:
Goshen High School Alumni
Association and check out the
album of photos posted
there. Here is a small taste
of the folk who helped on Friday
and Saturday.
Saturday's Volunteers
This is a photo of today's
Goshen High School Hall of Fame.
It's located in the lobby of the
high school.
We
will add 10 plaques of
previously inducted Hall of Fame
members and three current year
members
each
year until we have honored all
of them .
Goshen Local School District
Warrior Monument
Many former Goshen Warriors have
fond memories of their years
spent as a student in the Goshen
School Building, at the corner
of State Route 28 and Goshen
Road. Those memories will live
on forever, however the building
could not. The original Goshen
School building was severely
damaged beyond repair over time
and was removed from the
property in the fall of 2014.
A committee was established of
current and retired school
district personnel as well as
alumni to decide the best way to
honor the traditions and
memories of the building. The
decision was made to create a
monument that would be available
for all to see. The monument
is located on the current
Goshen High School property at
the front corner of the gym.
Whatever your memories are,
there is now a way to honor them
for all time. You, your friends
and/or your corporation can help
build the Warrior Monument that
will be a visible reminder of
our educational roots.
The
Monument is now finished and
dedicated. Stop by
the high school and see the
monument and the historical
plaque beside it.

French Legion Of Honor
Metal
Robert Zwick, a

at the Goshen High
School from 1954 to
1958. In November, he
was presented with the
French Legion of Honor

in 1802 and acknowledges
services rendered to
France by persons of
exceptional merit,
courage and devotion to
the cause of freedom.
More than six decades
after helping liberate
France during world War
II, Robert Zwick has
received the highest
decoration the French
government bestows.
"It is a fantastic
honor. I'm very
humbled," said Zwick,
who served in the U.S.
army during the war. "It
is awesome for me to be
here this morning."
The 88 year old Delhi
township resident grew
up in East Price Hill
and attended Elder High
School before
transferring and
graduating from the
city's aviation high
school in 1943.
Immediately after
high school, he enlisted
in the Army and was
shipped overseas in
January 1945 with the
42th Infantry Division.
His division fought
across France,
positioning and firing
guns and howitzers.
After the German lines
were broken, his
division crossed into
Germany and helped in
the capture of
Nuremburg, Heidelberg,
Wurzburg, Schweinfurt
and Munich.
Bob returned to
Cincinnati in April of
1946 and began teaching
at Goshen in 1954. If
you knew Robert Zwick or
had him as a teacher,
please email
historain@goshenalumni.com
and we will post your
comment here or on our
facebook page.
Congratulation
Robert. Goshen's
students are proud to
have you as one of our
teachers.
